An extremely annoying question that has (unfortunately) replaced "Hello" or "Hi" as the most popular form of casual greeting. For full effect, best delivered while walking past someone at about 90 m.p.h. so the person you're talking to has no time to respond, and in a tone that suggests you really don't give a shit about "what's up" with them.

Dude \#1: "Hey, man. What's up?" Dude \#2: "Uh..." (what he managed to get out before Dude \#1 was already too far away to hear the rest of what he was going to say)

see also: whazzup, whassup, whasabi\!\!, etc. 1. Hi 2. Wtf is wrong with you?? It's probably originated from the late 20th century, when people were astounded with the sky. The only thing that they would reply was "nothing" Probably the first term to the decline of western civilization

1. Person 1: What's up? Person 2: "Nothing" (most common response, maybe 99% of people say that) 2. Person 1: What's up? Person: "The sky" (smart alleck answer: also: "the ceiling" or, "da roof")

Possibly derived from "what's the update." Extremely overused, almost exclusively by America's youth. Sometimes I wonder why people always ask each other the same question over and over again, when answer is always "nothing." Are we really that dull?

Used to ask an indiviudal how things are going. Can be responded to in urban settings by using the word [Chillin] or in Jamaica by saying [Cool]

5. (WHAT'S UP) (56↑, 43↓)
WHAT'S UP\! is just a greeting not a question not asking anything just an aknowledgement/ greeting in passing and the only reply in that tone , you have to listen for the tone, is what's\! up and keep it moving. Important listen for the tone.

walking down the street and see someone, eyes meet you both have things to do or nothing to do whatever the case you say, what's up\! and you keep it moving. don't just say this in any situation you have to use your senses if you don't have any senses don't try it because if you aint feeling it or you convey it in the wrong way it could be misinscrewed in the wrong way that same what's up? could be a challange or a question in which case if you can't reach for your feelings or senses just say hi, that nuetralizes anything other then the greeting.

A question about what another has his attention on. What is he thinking about or busy with? "Up" in this usage is referring to a slag from around the 1930s meaning: occupied with or busy with.

When I saw him he was angry so I asked "what's up?". But he would not tell me what he was angry about.

Used to mean "she/he/you is/are very attractive and I would very much enjoy making love to you." It is derived from "A Night at the Roxbury"

An interrogative expression used to request a clarification or repetition of something previously said. Used in place of "what?"

Person 1: "You're not paying attention to me." Person 2: "What's up?"

A term usually used by young African-Americans(mostly males), used in order to figure out if the person they are speaking with wants to "step" to them.

"You tryna mack on my girl dawg? So what's up?\!"
